East European Institute of Psychoanalysis founded in 1991 and is the first institution of higher learning such trades in Russia, realizing the full psychological and psychoanalytic training, including: psychoanalytic education, personal psychoanalytic training (own analysis), as well as - supervizorskuyu support for the start of the practical work of psychotherapy.
The Institute carries out an annual intake of students and trainees for the training and retraining in the specialty «Psychology» and specialization «Clinical Psychology» and «Psychoanalysis», as based on the average, and on the basis of higher education.
The full cycle of training on the basis of secondary education is 5 years and takes two forms: full-time and part-time (in the latter case, 6 years). Since 2008, in accordance with changes in legislation of the Russian Federation and the Bologna process is scheduled to move to a two-tier system of higher education - undergraduate and graduate with qualifications «Bachelor of Psychology» (1-s higher education) and the «master of psychology». The Institute is accredited with the American National Association for Accreditation in Psychoanalysis, the European Association for Psychotherapy (Austria), the European Confederation of psychoanalytic psychotherapy (Austria), professional psychological League (Moscow), Russian Psychotherapy Association (St. Petersburg) and other national and international organizations. He is one of the recognized institutions of Russia in the field of training of psychotherapists and psychologists. The Institute has awarded diplomas on behalf of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Governor of St. Petersburg, committees on science and higher education, health and other government and public institutions and organizations.
The training plan provides the necessary kinds and amount of training, controls, timing of theoretical and practical training, examination sessions, holidays, public examinations.
In the educational process, using traditional forms of work with students: lectures, seminars, practical exercises, laboratory workshops, leadership course and degree works. Along with traditional forms of learning are used and active learning methods in the form of competitions, business simulation games, round table discussions.
Organization of the learning process takes into account the specifics of a psychologist based in the field of psychoanalysis and health psychology. To this end, the Institute of practice, such kind of work as summer schools, conferences, seminars and ongoing training sessions in group and individual format.
